Improvements
Since its rebirth in 1988 the house was further improved and enlarged in several stages: a double garage and workshop, a paved courtyard offering space for 3 cars, up-to-date plumbing, a modern energy saving gas central heating, new fittings and tiles and power showers in both bathrooms, a new slate floor and oriental rugs downstairs, new fitted carpets upstairs, halogen lighting, a farmhouse pine kitchen and utility room, including a gas operated AGA oven and Purbeck marble and beech worktops. All usual appliances like dishwasher, washing machine / dryer, deep freezer and microwave are of course in place. The upmarket kitchenware and tableware have been carefully selected. From the kitchen, which is very much the social centre of the house, there is access through French doors to a spacious patio and the garden. The hall has Victorian mahogany furniture. In the sitting room there is one settee and one comfortable 120 cm wide sofa-bed (sleeps a 7th person or two children). An oak chest contains the radio HiFi equipment, terrestrial digital flat-screen TV, video, CD, DVD theatre surround system, and an analogue satellite receiver. With a suitable notebook computer our guests are welcome to use our WiFi (WLAN) broadband internet.
